The Roman hairstyle debate continues

According to the article On Pins and Needles: Stylist Turns Ancient Hairdo Debate on Its Head, Janet Stephens is a hairdo archaeologist. She has recreated Roman hairstyles, and in the article, she discusses her research - and her critics.

"This is my hairdresserly grudge match with historical representations of hairstyles," says Stephens. Her article, Ancient Roman Hairdressing: On (Hair)Pins and Needles, was published in 2008 in the Journal of Roman Archaeology. Recently a video on YouTube shows how Stephens created a Roman hairstyle.
