Bayeux tapestry complete at last

The residents of he Channel Island of Alderney, led by librarian Kate Russell, have recently completed a major project: the final panels of the Bayeux tapestry. (photo)

The original tapestry, depicting the Battle of Hastings, was completed around 1077 to commorate William the Conqueror's victory over King Harold. Experts believe that the final panels have been lost, leading the people of Alderney to add the coronation of William the Conqueror and the construction of the Tower of London.
