Come one, come all, to the eleventh Here Be Dragons weekend event. Plans for the weekend include all we have become accustomed to enjoy at Here Be Dragons, such as armoured combat, rapier combat, a feast, classes and socialising with a convivial crowd of people.
The venue in 2013 is a new one for the Shire, Zebra Moon backpackers' lodge in Greyton (no street address), about 1.5 hours' drive from Cape Town. The site has several small dormitories (5-8 beds), private rooms, a large kitchen and dining hall, a tournament field alongside a braai (barbeque) area and a separate well lit lounge. The town of Greyton is delightful to spend a weekend in, with lovely mountain walks and hikes possible as well as shopping in some quite exclusive little shops. Thursday 21 March is a local public holiday, perhaps arrive early and enjoy the town and countryside.
The event fee is 480 South African Rand per person for the weekend, which covers all costs including the Saturday evening feast. The event fee guarantees you a dormitory bed with bedding. Choosing a private room will cost slightly more, please consult with the event steward. Children 6-12 pay half price, under 6 are free. Overseas visitors are encouraged to spend time before or after the event seeing the beautiful Western Cape with members of the Shire as enthusiastic tour guides. The season will be early Autumn and the weather should be mild.
The site opens Friday 22 March 16h00 and closes Sunday 24 March 14h00. Booking has opened and will close on 18 March. Please let the event steward know of any special dietary requirements.
We hope to see you there!
