Independent: London to Essex Roman Road Discovered

Archaeologists have made an important discovery in Essex, England: a large Roman road connecting Essex and London and a whole new Roman town.

It seems that one road, at least, leads to the Roman village of Chipping Ongar, 11 miles west of Chelmsford, England. The new town, along with what appears to be a large, Roman road, was discovered recently by archaeologists. The wheel-rutted road leads from Waltham Forest, near London, changes direction and points toward Chipping Ongar, which may have been an important communications post.
