It seems that one road, at least, leads to the Roman village of Chipping Ongar, 11 miles west of Chelmsford, England. The new town, along with what appears to be a large, Roman road, was discovered recently by archaeologists. The wheel-rutted road leads from Waltham Forest, near London, changes direction and points toward Chipping Ongar, which may have been an important communications post.
