Viking outpost on Baffin Island?

At a conference in October 2012, archaeologist Patricia Sutherland announced that new evidence has been found of a Viking outpost on Canada's Baffin Island. Sutherland, a professor at Memorial University in Newfoundland, led a team to investigate after finding two unusual pieces of cord identical to those produced by Viking women living in Greenland in the 14th century.

New evidence for the settlement includes the discovery of whetstones with traces of bronze, unknown to the island's native inhabitants.
