[DRA] Garden of Earthly Delights

Let it be known that from Saturday, the 1st to the Sunday the 2nd of December, 2012, there shall be a Faire to celebrate the arts and artisanal crafts, and this faire shall be held in the Zehentscheune in the heart of Urberach.

The lord Baron and lady Baroness of Knights Crossing welcome all and sundry, but especially those who wish to share and teach their myriad works. After the day of sharing and learning, there shall be a light dinner, followed by revelry--- games, laughter and dancing in the customary fashion!

The Baron and Baroness furthermore declare that there shall also be a grand feast held at noon on the Sunday, followed by more Gardening for those who can stay.

Faire:
This is a weekend to display your works - preferably unfinished - and to share your knowledge. But more importantly, this is a chance for you to actively teach someone how to do what you are doing, by putting the materials in their hands and guiding them. We are not only looking for perfection --- we want beginner level work, all the way to master works! No competition, only sharing and learning. Please bring materials so that people can interactively try your skill/craft/art (if needed, feel free to charge a small fee to cover your materials). If a spontaneous class breaks out, wonderful! If you would like to have a booth at the fair, please contact Countess Judith, the event steward.

Schedule:

Saturday:
12:00 Site opens for general populace (people arriving before then will be pressed into service). People can start setting up their booths and sharing knowledge.
15:00 Afternoon meal is served
19:30 dinner is served, followed by dessert board and more sharing of knowledge
21:00 Dancing (dances taught), revelry, more sharing - one big happy party!

Sunday:
11:30-13:30 Feast
13:30-17:00 More faire
17:00 site cleanup

Food:
Meals include lunch, dinner and dessert board Saturday, and feast Sunday morning.

Site:
Is the lovely 14th c. tithe barn of the village of Urberach, which has been restored to its 14th c. look, but with amenities such as a shower, floor heating, flushing toilets, and a modern kitchen. The site is handicapped accessible. For pictures of the town and the site, see: Rödermark
Site opens Saturday, December 1, 2012 at noon, and closes Sunday, December 2, 2012, at 17:00.

Sleeping:
Crash space will be offered in the tithe barn, which actually does have a nice little shower and changing room. Bring whatever you need to sleep comfortably. For those who prefer a real bed and a shower, there is an inn directly next to the site, the Goldener Löwe http://www.goldenerloewe-urberach.de. . There are also very reasonably priced accommodations about 500 meters away at the Urberacher Hof http://www.urberacher-hof.de/hotel.html , or at Haus Jasmin, a B&B http://www.haus-jasmin-roedermark.de. Prices: Paid SCA members (with a membership card, or other proof of membership): 22 EUR per adult, 13-17 10 EUR, children younger than 13 are free.
Non-members: 27 EUR per adult, 13-17 10 EUR, children younger than 13 are free.

SITE INFORMATION:
The site for the mini Garden of Earthly Delights, the medieval tithe barn (now called the Kulturscheune), is located just off of Darmstädter Strasse (see Map, point A). It can be approached by car for unloading via the turnoff for the parking garage on Traminer Strasse (see map - essentially, one has to drive through that courtyard, past the restaurants cafes).

Traveling to the event: Rödermark-Urberach can be easily reached by train via Frankfurt and Dieburg. The best airport is Frankfurt International. Hahn airport is 160 km away, or about a 3 hour public transport ride. It might be possible to arrange an airport transfer service depending on when people are arriving.

IF YOU WISH TO ARRIVE FRIDAY EVENING, OR STAY SUNDAY NIGHT, CRASH SPACE WILL BE AVAILABLE AT LADY JUDITH'S HOUSE, which is only 2.5 kilometers from the site.
