Spanish Inquisition follows priest to the New World

According to trial records, Catholic priest Pedro Ruiz Calderón not only practiced Black Magic, but he was really good at it. The trial took place as part of the Spanish Inquisition in Mexico City in 1540.

The priest was a known braggart and allegedly claimed powers including invisibility, teleportation, summoning demons, and finding buried treasure. He claimed after an ill-fated cave exploration to have travelled to hell and brought back a book signed by the devil.

Despite being found guilty, he received a light sentence, being sent back to Spain and suspended from religious duties. His ultimate fate is unknown.
