Upon investigation, police and rangers learned that the 15 metre long wooden vessel was a replica ship, crewed by six Russians, which had sailed from Europe on its way to become a permanent display in a museum in Sydney. "We had reports a wooden boat was anchored out just offshore of the community on the western side (of Elcho Island) that looked a bit suspicious," Ranger Damien Clayton said.
