[ATL] Chalice of the Sun God IX

Clio, Thalia, Erato, Euterpe, Polyhymnia, Calliope, Terpsichore, Urania, and Melpomene. These nine goddesses have inspired artists, musicians, writers, and even scientists since the time of ancient Greece, and now they can inspire you. In honor of the ninth year of Chalice, we celebrate the Nine Greek Muses and all that they represent.

Compete in individual disciplines and as part of a team for the coveted Chalice of the Sun God. The winners receive bragging rights, the right to challenge next year's winners, and of course, CHOCOLATE!

Chalice of the Sun God IX: Romancing the Muses
October 20, 2012

Martial Activities

Fight for the honor of the Muses in armored, rapier, target archery, and youth combat tournaments. Competitors will fight in a Challenger's tourney for the right to best the current Chalice Champions in each discipline and become this year's Chalice Champions.

Questions should be directed to the Marshal in Charge, Lord Patrick Ravensclaw (mcpheekp AT gmail.com).

Questions about individual disciplines should be directed to the Rapier Marshal, Geoffrey ap Clywyd (jeffwmailbox-rapier AT yahoo.com), or the Archery Marshal, Naran Numuchi (Neacalban1 AT aol.com).

A&S and Performance Competitions

Artisans and performers alike are invited to pay tribute to the Muses in the performance and static A&S competitions. Anything depicting the Muses, in the domains of the Muses, involving the emblems of the Muses, or which you can in any other way relate back to the Muses, is fair game.

The winner of each competition will challenge the previous year's winner for the title of Chalice Champion.

This year Chalice will also have a beer and wine license, which means brewers are welcome and invited to bring their wares for sampling and competition in A&S. For questions about A&S, contact Lady Bevin an Broc Drannach (moas AT pontealto.atlantia.sca.org).

Team Competition for the Chalice of the Sun God

Teams must register by 11 am on the day of the event to compete for the Chalice of the Sun God. Teams must field a single participant in at least 4 of the 5 Chalice disciplines (Bardic, Artisan, Heavy, Rapier, Archery).

In addition to the adult categories, each team may include up to three youth combatants, one for each area of youth competition, and a bonus point will be awarded for each youth participant (up to three points). If the youth wins the title of Chalice Youth Armored Champion, Chalice Youth Archer, or Chalice Youth Rapier Champion, an additional bonus point will be awarded to the team.

Each participant shall receive points based on participation and performance. The team with the highest score will be declared the winner of the Chalice of the Sun God.

To register a team, contact the Team Coordinator, Lady Belphoebe de Givet (belfebe AT yahoo.com). You must include the names of your team members, their disciplines, and the team name.
