A "virtually complete" horse harness of leather and metal pendants was brought to light from a well at Caherduggan in County Cork.
Initially thought to be a belt, it was determined to be for a horse with buckles at each end and "hinged heraldic shields mounted along its length." Thought to be from the 14th century, the shields show a lion "counter-rampant", a rare depiction for that time. Several photos detail aspects of the horse trapping.
