[ATL] Games & Gluttony

Hawkwood invites its neighbors and friends to join us for a relaxing day of Games & Gluttony!!!

Fighting: If’n ya wanna, there might be some! In a simple format. Double elim or Round Robin tourneys, depending on the number of entrants!

Games: We’ve got Games! Lots of Games! Fun Games! Come and spend the day just playing your favorite period game! Or try some new ones! Maybe you’ll find a new favorite!

Site: The site is Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 2312 Smoky Park Highway, Candler, N.C. 28715. The site is dry. No pets allowed. Parking only in designated areas. Site opens Saturday, June 30 at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 8:30 p.m.

A&S:  All are invited to participate in two different A& S competitions at Games and Gluttony! One will be period gaming and the other will be ballroom masks. We will also have an open display for those who want to show their beautiful works. For questions, please contact Lady Heather at hlrumpf@gmail.com

For Love of the Game: Participants are asked to make and display period gaming boards and equipment. Documentation is encouraged, but not required.

Mysterious Masks: Participants are invited to create a ballroom mask of any material they choose such as fabric or leather. Make it shine and sparkle, or cover it in feathers and other beautiful adornments. Documentation is not required, but encouraged.

Non-member adults must add $5 to the above prices.
All refund requests must be received IN WRITING within 7 days of the end of the event. The only true reservation is a PAID reservation! Include email address for confirmation.

FEAST IS AN OLD-FASHIONED POT LUCK! Hawkwood will be providing one meat for the feast and beverages, as well as munchies throughout the day. All persons staying for feast need to bring a dish sufficient to feed 6 persons, based upon the following schedule, using the first letter of your modern last name:
    A-E - Cheese and Bread; Pickles
    F-K - Salads; Casseroles
    L-M - Meat; Protein
    N-O - Veggies
    P-S - Desserts
    T-Z - Potatoes; Pasta; Rice

Merchants: Blanket merchanting welcome! No tables or chairs will be available for merchant use, per site policy.

Directions: 
From the East: Take your best route to I-40, Exit 44 (Enka-Candler exit), west of Asheville.
Take exit 44 (19-23) and turn right at the off ramp light towards McDonalds. Go approximately six miles. Church will be on the left, up on a hill, after you pass The Hot Dog King (which is on the right).

From the West: Take your best route to I-40, Exit 37 (East Canton exit), east of Canton. Take exit 37, and turn South onto Wiggins Road (away from the TA Travel Center truck stop). At the next intersection, turn left onto US 19-23 (away from the convenience store on the corner), heading east approximately 0.8 mile. Church will be on your right, up on a hill.

Either set of directions will work equally well.
