Scottish Clans Battle Over Claim to King Arthur

Clan MacArthur and Clan Campbell are challenging Cornish claims - and each other's - to the right to claim King Arthur as their own.

The new King Arthur film has sparked controversary over who has right to claim descent from the British hero. Clan Arthur (or MacArthur) and Clan Campbell have disputed Cornwall's claim to Arthur. "The Duchy of Cornwall makes a lot of money out of the Arthurian legend with very little evidence," says Hugh McArthur, while Clan Campbell believes themselves to be descended from Artur Mac Aeden, the son of a Scottish king and a Welsh-speaking Briton from the ancient kingdom of Strathclyde.
