Cirencester's Roman amphitheatre to be revamped

The Cirencester town council has plans for their city's Roman ruins, including "the remains of one of the largest Roman amphitheatres in Britain."

Previously managed by English Heritage, the amphitheatre of the 2nd century Roman city of Corinium once housed entertainments for 8,000 citizens. It will receive a new walkway and signage. Also to be restored will be the historic Chesterton Obelisk, part of the city's Roman monuments.
