[DRA] Drachenwald's 20th Anniversary

Come and celebrate Midsummer Coronation and our Kingdom's 20th anniversary in comfort and style at the wonderful Ludwigstein Castle in Witzenhausen near the city of Göttingen, Germany.

  •     Tournaments and Meleés, both of armoured combat and defence.
  •     Archery Prize shoots.
  •     Balls, Masques and Mysteries.
  •     Classes, workshops, displays and disputations.
  •     Food, drink, music, men and merriment, wine, women and song!

And , of course, the Coronation of the 41st King and Queen of Drachenwald, with all the pomp and splendour that our Kingdom can afford!

Burg Ludwigstein is a 15th century castle overlooking the river Werra and surrounded by beautiful woodland. It is situated southwest of the town of Witzenhausen (Nordhessen) and can easily be reached by car or train and bus. Once the residence of the Hessian Government, the castle is now a youth-hostel and activity centre.

  •     143 beds are available in rooms for from two to eight people.
  •     Large assembly hall and large dining hall with historic fireplace.
  •     Large camping ground close by with fire pits and shower/toilet block
  •     Small swimming pool
  •     Sauna available for extra charge.

Site Facilities

The castle is at the top of a hill, accessed by a short road, which can be driven. There is parking available at the castle itself. Inside the castle, most outdoor areas are cobbled.  The camping ground, which will also be used for the list field, is a grass meadow.
Indoor Accommodation

There are up to 143 beds available, with room sizes ranging from two to eight beds. Most rooms have a basin in the room.   The rooms are in the central part of the castle and spread over three floors.  Each floor has showers and toilets with separate facilities for men and women. No bedding is provided, but sheets can be rented from the site for a small fee.
Handicapped Accommodation

There is one two-bed room on the ground floor for wheel-chair users, with an adjacent toilet. Users of this room are permitted to park their vehicles directly outside. The room provides easy access to the main facilities...

Fees are per person. There will be a late fee charged for bookings after 15 March 2013.
Meals

The above prices include breakfast and a light lunch.

There will be an additional charge for evening meals and feast.  This has yet to be determined, depending on fund-raising activities for the event. These meals will be booked separately.

The plan is to have the site kitchen cook the meals. They have offered to cook medieval dishes for us, thus releasing our Kingdom's cooks from having the spend their event in the kitchens.  This has yet to be confirmed, so watch this space for further details.

The castle shop has snacks and drinks for sale between 07:30 and 20:00

We will also be running a 20-Year Tavern, courtesy of His Excellency Baron Agilmar Martell von Sevelingen. Wine, beer and soft drinks will be available.   Opening times to be determined.

Travel

Pick-ups are available from Witzenhausen, organised by the castle staff.  There is a fee for this, but it will depend on the number of people requiring it.

A taxi can be taken from Witzenhausen for a fee of € 15.

Other Costs

Bedding can be rented from the castle for a small fee.

The sauna can be booked for an additional fee of € 45 for 2 hours plus € 15 per additional hour.

Burg Ludwigstein is located 8km from the town of Witzenhausen in the centre of Germany, some 300km south of Hamburg and 200km east of Dortmund
