Cathedrals: "our greatest architectural glories”

In a recent article and podcast for BBC News Magazine, David Cannadine "looks at a selection of the world's cathedrals and the important contribution that they have made to the broader lives of their respective cities and countries."

In the article, Cannadine discusses Christchurch Cathedral in New Zealand, badly destroyed in last year's earthquake, as well as Exeter Cathedral, Gloucester Cathedral, standin for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films, Durham, St.Paul's, and Coventry, destroyed in World War II and rebuilt in the 1960s a cathedral "conceived from the outset in a spirit of peace and hope, reconciliation and resurrection."
