Lincolnshire hobbyist strikes gold with silver seal matrix

Metal detctore hobbyist Devin Warmsley had a great day December 7, 2011 when he discovered a 14th century silver gilt seal-matrix worth between UK£5,000 and UK£20,000, according to the British Museum. (photo).

The seal matrix depicts the heads of a man and woman and bears the words Ami Ames Leavement which roughly translates as 'love your love loyally'.

"The matrix is in beautiful condition, said  Warmsley. "I've had seals before but they are normally lead or bronze. This must have belonged to someone that had a lot of money."
