Roman kiln found in North Yorkshire

Plans for the new kitchen and classrom space are on hold at Norton primary school in North Yorkshire, England due to the discovery of a Roman kiln, complete with pottery fragments.

The school children, however, are willing to wait for their building improvements  since they have been able to visit the excavation and view the large amounts of pottery found there. ‘‘It is nice that the school has got this link with the past in such a significant way and that it will help to enrich pupils’ education and stimulate their interest in local history,” said county councillor Stephen Shaw.
