It's Rosewater Season in Iran

The small town of Qamsar in Iran is the center for the rosewater industry in the Middle East, a center that finds itself in a flurry of activity in early summer.

For a few weeks each year, the town of Qamsar is perfumed with the scent of roses as its citizens scurry to dry and bottle rose petals to make rosewater for perfume and cooking.

"'The roses from here, Markazi province, are just the best there are,' said Zohre, a young woman from Tehran, bruising a petal between her forefinger and thumb."
