The East Kingdom Brewers' Guild and the Shire of Endewearde are bubbling with joy as we join to host the The Reinvention of the East Kingdom Brewer Collegium - for brewers by brewers.
Brewers of all levels of skill are invited to bring their best (and worst!) experiences in brewing, vintning, mead-making, cordial creation, documentation, judging and more to this year's "EK BrewU". Classes on all manner of brewing will be taught by some of the East Kingdom's brewing luminaries - complete list of instructors and classes is being assembled. Guildmistress of the East Kingdom Brewers' Guild, Mistress Suzanne de Londres, Master Sean de Londres, and Master Ludwig von Eisburg will be among the instructors. There will be classes on redaction, documentation, and a variety of other topics.
The site opens at 9am Saturday, March 31st and will close at 11am on Sunday, April 1st.
Classes will run from 10am - 6pm with a break for dayboard, provided by Lady Margaret of Rochester. Kick off the evening with a delightful dinner, enjoy Endeweardeian hospitality, and converse with friends new and old in a low-key evening revel on the potables theme of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" and you are encouraged to share your experiences with each. Due to the nature of this event, an overnight stay is strongly recommended; there is ample bunking space for you to bring your cot and pitch camp, though it is rustic. (There's no shower, though there are modern facilities - most of us have camped far more rustically...) Advanced good-will reservations are suggested, to ensure that there is ample room for all who wish to stay on site.
Overnight reservations include the dayboard, Saturday dinner and a light breakfast on Sunday morning, plus a warm, dry, clean, indoor place to pitch camp.
Day reservations include Saturday classes, dayboard and dinner.
For those who wish a less rustic experience, but wish to enjoy dinner and the evening revel, we will ensure that you get to a nearby hotel safely. A list of accommodations may be easily found by searching for hotels in Augusta, Maine, only one hour north of Portland.
The dayboard will be provided by Lady Margaret of Rochester; our eveningboard by Mistress Mercedes Mercedes de Califia, The Honorable Lord Colin Fraser MacLeod, and Thanet House; breakfast by the autocrat. Those with special dietary needs should contact the autocrat by March 14th; please include a phone number in your message.
NOTE: *This event will contain classes on the preparation of potables, most containing alcohol. There will be NO activities for youth, though there are activities in Augusta and nearby Portland and Freeport for families who wish to visit the region as one member attends. For activities suggestions, feel free to contact the autocrat.*
