[MER] Festival on the Green

It is time to prepare for Festival on the Green (FOG). I've been tasked again to serve as liaison between UWF and the SCA. For those of you who are unfamiliar with FOG, it's a Fine Arts Festival at University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL. It is on Friday and Saturday, March 30 & 31, 2012.

This is an important change this year. Usually, it conflicts with Meridian Coronation. Not so this year. So, for all of you in this general area, who are not going to any SCA events elsewhere in the Kingdom, here is a very big 2 day demo. We need people both days, but Saturday is the main day. There are literally thousands of people passing by and through our "Village".

So, what do we need?

  • Armored fighters
  • Fencers
  • Merchants
  • Wood workers
  • Metal workers
  • Armorers
  • Dances
  • Bards
  • Musicians
  • Cooks
  • People to look pretty
  • People to talk with the public
  • Displays of weapons, armor, siege machines, bows, etc.
  • All sorts of A&S I haven't mentioned
  • Etc., etc., etc.

We have a large outdoor display area where we can set up pavilions. Camping is permitted in the village. No ground fires, but braziers are acceptable.

As for merchants, we are the only people allowed to merchant at FOG without submitting applications and having our wares juried and approved. So, any SCA type merchanting is good and handmade goods are even better.

Anyone who wishes to do any serious performances on stage, needs to get with me soon so I can get you on the schedule.

We will have a fighting field setup and there will be a perimeter around our area with "Gates" at each end of a sidewalk which runs diagonally through the village.

As in the past, I will be available on the Thursday before FOG to assist with those needing to set up early. So, if you are coming, here's what I need. If you're just bringing yourself, give me a shout so I can have some idea of expected turnout. If you are going to merchant, I need to know how much space you need, your basic wares and any special needs. Such as electricity. All others, how much space to you need for pavilions &/or work areas. Also, keep me apprised of any needs for tables and chairs. I can get them as long as the quantities are reasonable.
