"Cumbrian Dragon" may have belonged to a knight

A stunning miniature of a 15th century knight slaying a dragon has been found in Carlisle, England. The cast silver gilt piece is of high quality and thought to be a piece of jewelery rather than a pilgrim's badge.

It is possible that the piece was worn by a knight, and maybe even a member of the Order of St. George. A loop on the back of the knight indicates it was intended to be sewn onto a garment. [photo]
