[ANS] Stargate Yule

Please join us in our celebration of the season of celebrations! A day of pageantry! A day of fun!

Bring your talents of bard craft and vie for the title Bard of Stargate! Specifics of the competition format will be announced at the event.

Bring your body of work and vie for the title of Stargate Artisan. This year's competition will be a single-entry contest, documentation required. Artisans may bring a wider variety of work to display and possibly receive comment on, but only a single project will be considered for judging. Standard tables will be used for display; if you anticipate a special need (proximity to electricity, large amount of space, etc.) please email the A&S Minister ahead of time so she can attempt to accommodate your needs. Artisans may begin setting up their entries as soon as site opens; deadline for entries is 11:00 am. Time for removal of entries will be anounced, but should be around 3:00-4:00p. The winner will be announced in evening court.

Bring new toys to donate to deserving children through TOYS FOR TOTS. For each toy donated, you will receive a raffle ticket for a great prize.

Join in our annual Table Decorating contest. This year’s theme: Celebrate Stargate.

Learn to paint the beautiful scrolls you see being given out at court. Mistress Hillary Greenslade will be teaching Charter Painting starting around 11 am.

Do you enjoy gardening or wish you could? Ever wonder what was planted in period in the kitchen gardens of the villages, manors and castles? If you'd like to learn how you *can* garden medievally whether you are in a house, condo or apartment, you won't want to miss this class by Mistress Annes Clotilde von Bamburg: Planning and Building a Medieval Garden. Bring a notebook and something to write with, as you will be sketching out a personal garden and planning. December is a great time to plan, January for acquiring what you need, February for starting seedlings and March for planting. You can garden no matter what space you have.

In the afternoon, HL Thomas atte Woode will be teaching a class in European Courtly Dancing. Beginners and old hands at European dancing are welcome to come and join the fun. Â English country dances, French, and Italian dances will all be taught. Â The tentative set list includes Half Hannikin, Gathering Peasecods, Rufty Tufty, the Arbeau bransles suite, Petit Riens, and Amoroso. If you have an olde favorite that you want to do, contact Thomas atte Woode and he will try to add it.

At this event we are asking anyone with any piece of Stargate memorabilia to bring it in for display in our museum exhibit (you will get it back!). Please include some words explaining its significance.

For the martial minded there will be pick-up fighting for both rapier and chivalric combat, plus there will be a Toys for Tots Tourney at Yule this year. It will be a double-elimination challenge tourney. To enter you must donate a toy, then you can buy re-entry in the tournament by donating more toys. Dukes and counts will need to donate 3 toys, knights 2 and everyone else 1. You may also buy your way back in with a cash donation if you do not have a toy. The winner of the tournament wins ALL the raffle tickets for all the toys donated during the tourney. Armor inspection is at 9:30 am; fighting starts at 11:00 am. So bring some toys and armor up for a good cause!

For the hungry there will be a lunch (included in the site fee) prepared by Lady Petronel. In the evening, enjoy a Feast executed by HL Carluccio di Baia.
