The search for the Stirling Roman road

The site of the new visitor center at Bannockburn, Scotland may hold more history than just the battlefield. Archaeologists are looking for evidence of a Roman road which is believed to have run through the site.

Because the road may lie beneath the modern road, experts are employing "a team of specialists from Orkney have been employed to use ground penetrating radar which can take readings through and beneath the tarmac." In addition, the team hopes to discover the site of a Roman camp.
