Reliquary holding relics of saint found in Perperikon

Archaeologist Nikolay Ovcharov recently discovered a 5th century bronze reliquary containg a cross which held two fibers, either hair or textile, believed to have belonged to a saint.

The reliquary was found during an ongoing excavation in the ancient Thracian city of Perperikon in Southern Bulgaria. Ovcharov reported that the cross was hermetically sealed and believed not to have been opened since the 5th or 6th century.
