It is once again time to cast aside those diets for a day, and come to enjoy the wondrous deliciousness that is CHOCOLATE at the College of Brymstonne's annual Chocolate Revel!!
This year's theme is the grandeur of King Henry VIII's Tudor court. Over the last year, several people have joined in the craziness of Brymstonne's "Tudor Project" - in which we are recreating some of the garb found in portraits during King Henry's reign. The results of some of our work will be debuted at this year's Chocolate Revel. Can you spot Jane Seymour's dress - Or maybe Mary Tudor's? Join us and see!
Please note that while the theme is "Tudor Grandeur", it is not required that you wear Tudor-style garb. Everyone is encouraged to join us from all period times and places.

The College of Brymstonne was greatly honored by the generous and awe-inspiring donations to last year's silent auction. We would be most obliged if our gracious Kingdom would again show us this kind support. The ever so lovely Lady Bébinn ingen Domnaill is currently accepting donations for this years silent auction. If you wish to donate an item or services, please email Lady Bébinn.
The energetic Ladies Asha Vahti and Isabelle de Calais will be in charge of the madness during the event. PS: Crowd surfing is not allowed...
The College of Brymstonne will be hosting many competitions during the Revel.
- Diabetic-Friendly Dessert Competition (2nd Annual)
- Chocolate Dessert Competition
- Youth Dessert Competition
- Themed Dessert Display - Tudor Subleties
Voting for all categories will open at 1pm and will close by 5pm. Receive $1.00 off your site fee when you bring either a Chocolate or Diabetic-Friendly Dessert. Not applicable to all competitions, discount applies to only one entry per person. Diabetic-Friendly Dessert Competition
This year, the College of Brymstonne will be hosting their second annual Diabetic Friendly Dessert Competition. There are no restrictions on entries (ie. Maximum sugar or minimum fiber, etc.), we simply ask that you use your best judgment when entering a dessert into this competition. For this reason, please bring nutritional information for your entry. See the DIABETIC TEMPLATE (above) for examples.
Chocolate Dessert Competition
Yet again it is time to show off your chocolatier skills! Whether you are showing off your true colors as a gourmand by entering a gastronomic extravaganza, or simply your Great Aunt Winifred’s chocolate silk pie that can’t be beat by fancy rigamarole, it's sure to be a treat for all!
Youth Dessert Competition
We are asking for any aspiring cooks and chefs ages 5-17 to present their pièce de résistance to the Populace! We'll be sure to enjoy it all, and have a gift ready for the dessert most warmly received by our grateful gastronomics!
Themed Dessert Display - Tudor Subleties
The Tudor period was a time of great creativity and extravagance, and this spirit extended even to the desserts which were placed before the royal table! Therefore, Brymstonne encourages any auteurs of the sweetest course to step forward and show off your style! Sugar swans, sugar plates, sugar tarts - anything awe-inspiring to behold, as well as to be eaten, will be accepted!
Games of Chance
Games of chance were common in Henry's court. One such game which may have been played is known as Gluckhaus, which is a tabletop dice game in the spirit of hopscotch which is played for coins. Gluckhaus boards will be set up around the Revel, and the savvy player who wins the most coins will be named champion, and will be given a prize!
Games of Knowledge
As this Chocolate Revel is focusing on details from the Tudor court of Henry VIII, it will pay to know about the members and doings of that court. There will be quizzes and questions to be answered, with prizes awarded to Those Moste Knowledgeable!
The life of the Tudors was filled with many religious holidays in which meat was not to be consumed. On these days, however, fish was permissible. One looking at a list of what was considered "fish" might be a bit confused, as aquatic animals such as frogs were on this list - after all, they do live in the water! Imagine a young Henry sneaking away from his tutors and running down to the moat in search of this delicacy!
This year, join us in the hilarity of "Frog Flipping", and see if you can flip your frog the furthest. Or try your skill at "Frog Archery" - how many lily pads can you land your frog on?
King Henry's Lists
Young King Henry was an avid (and quite skilled) jouster. No Tudor celebration would be complete without this exciting sport of the nobles! All are welcome to compete in the thrill - and the laughter - of the 4th annual Chocolate Revel Jousting Tournament!
The Brymstonne Stables have been hard at work training the horses into the peak of performance - and after the energetic and frenetic competition of last year, the horses and their trainers are looking forward to another great tournament! The Stables are proud to once again supply horse and lance to willing competitors. Both traditional and side-saddle riding will be permitted, but please do not bop one another on the heads or faces with the lances. It is unseemly conduct, and will result in disqualification.
The competition will again be held through a bracket-style list, and again this year as with last year, there will be a Youth competition as well as an Adult competition. Should there be enough Young Adults who choose to compete, they will have a separate list than the Youth and Adults.
Should you choose to enter this 3rd Annual Turnier der Pferde, I would request that you send your name (whatever you wish to be called for the sake of the Turnier), and whether you will be jousting as a Youth, Young Adult, or Adult (Youth being those children under 12, Young Adult being those children and teens between 12 and 17, and Adult being all those individuals 18 and over) to the Brymstonne Stables, so that they may be able to coordinate the joust list for the day of the Turnier. Please email the Stables with your information to m'Lady James Dawysoun.
King Henry was truly a renaissance man - not only did he have interest in food, fashion and fighting, he was also a lover of music, and was notable for writing several ballads and bauds. In the spirit of this love of music, our Bardic Garden will once again be hosted this year!
All that is requested is that you bring tales suitable for young audiences. In addition, the tale or song may only be a maximum of 15 minutes, so that we can allot time for all participants.
If you wish to participate in the contest, please e-mail M'lady Viola verch Howell or M'lady Rose Ella Duvanovicha doch'Sychevna for details!
Dancing will be hosted by the incomparable Mistress Jehanne le feu du Christ.
