[WES] Fall Captaincy

As Fall speeds towards us, we meet again to find a new Captain for the Winter's Gate militia. In addition, we will be holding the first-ever rapier tourney for the Commander of the Cavaliers! Come join us for a wonderful weekend of fighting and food!

After the titled tourneys, there will be flower tourneys for both heavy and rapier, followed by food for the body (a potluck dinner Saturday evening) and food for the mind (a class on Medicinal Herbs in Cooking and Their Use for Daily Ailments on Sunday, class fee is $6)

A&S contest is "heraldic display in any mode". For the uninspired, that means banners, tabards, dresses, table settings, bookcovers, pouches, and more. Autocrat's whim is, of course, food. Bring a dish that will serve 8, using some of those odd new foods that the Spanish have been bringing in from that "New World" of theirs. Extra points for a period dish using these ingredients. The Barony will be providing a meat dish.

Site Information: Moose Creek Pavilion at Pioneer Park/ corner of Airport Way and Peger Road / Fairbanks, AK 99701. Site opens at 12pm and will close at 9pm. Event fee is $7 for members ($12 for non-members); ages 6-12 are $3, and children under 6 are free. Checks should be made out to "SCA Inc - Winter's Gate".

Autocrat: Ellisif a Reikiavik kparrish@mosquitonet.com.

Directions: Make your best way to Airport Road. Drive to Peger Road and turn in the same direction as the "Pioneer Park" sign. The second drive on the right is to the canoe rentals, and that parking lot can be used for loading. To reach the pavilion, follow the signs. From the main parking lot of Airport Road, meander towards the back left corner of the park.
