In France, a man's home really is his castle

Sebastian de Varitault not only lives in a medieval castle, he lives in the castle that has been his family's home for 700 years. Chateau de Roquetaillade was built and expanded from the 11th through 14th centuries.

While the exterior looks like a child's vision of a castle, the interior reflects the glories of French Baroque design. Maintaining a castle with no state assistance is difficult work. He relies on his family, 2 staff members, and volunteers.

The castle has yet to give up all of its secrets. He recently found a painting dating to 1599 in his basement.
