BREAKING NEWS! This just in! Word has reached the Barony of St. Swithin’s Bog that an invasion force of Vikings is headed their way. Land fall has been estimated for mid July 15-17, 2011.
The Baron and Baroness have been informed to be prepared for incursions from all compass points. But wait, there’s no reason to run screaming into the night! The Vikings are not out to steal the illustrious Saint’s Relic, the Gobi recipe, nor to ravage and despoil the lands. NO! They are coming to participate in the Bog’s Annual Three-day Event. Fighting? Of course there will be fighting! Not only is the Bog hosting Aethelmearc’s Heavy Weapons Championship, but there will also be a Gold Chain Tournament following the Kingdom Championship. You say you want more? There is more—archery, thrown weapons, and more fencing. This will be a day of martial activities to satisfy even the hardiest of competitors.
For those gentles not martially inclined, there will be an A&S Valhalla planned consisting of various classes and activities as well as an A&S competition which anyone can enter. However, the catch here is that whatever you make as an entry must be something you have only begun to learn to do within the past year. (Example: Master Bob cannot enter a piece of wire weaving that he got his Laurel in, but he could enter some calligraphy because he just started doing calligraphy this past year.) Let's see what happens when you step out of your comfort zone.
