Knights and ladies at the library? “Whoa!”

“Whoa!” exclaimed young library patrons when a great sword was drawn at a recent summer reading club program at Grand Island Public Library by the local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism. Denton Cushing of the Independent (Central Nebraska) covered the story. (photo)

The program on the Middle Ages was part of the reading around the world summer reading club program. “We are going to the seven continents, so we thought with Europe,” Youth Services Librarian Celine Swan said. “The kids like stuff about knights and dragons, so we thought we would tie that in.”

The Independent offered two stories on the library demonstration.
