Unknown Raphael Sketch Discovered

Guardian Unlimited: A chalk drawing of a child, believed to be the work of Renaissance master Raphael, was recently discovered in a pile of drawings brought to Sotheby's for evaluation. Experts at London auction house Sotheby's were stunned to discover a previously unknown work by Raphael tucked among a sheath of drawings brought in for evaluation. The work is a drawing of a baby, done in red chalk and thought to date from 1505 when the artist first arrived in Florence. Art experts believe that the drawing may be an early study for the Christ child in the Ansidei Madonna.
