Medieval industry uncovered in Suffolk, England

A construction site has revlealed evidence of of ovens and leather tanneries dating between the 12th and 16th century. They have found lime barrels as well as enough cattle horns to indicate industrial animal processing.

Archaeologists hope to find more over the course of a month-long dig. The site shows up as fields on maps as early as 1740, so the appearance of industry on the site was a surprise. [photo]
