[MER] Dreamstone Tourney XXXII

Come one, come all, as we frolic and revel to the sights and sounds of Shakespeare's world in a weekend of fun and laughter.

For the martial minded, test your prowess on the field of honour in the classic Dreamstone Tournament and enjoy other fighting scenarios throughout the day. For those inclined to the gentler arts, there will be classes on blackwork, late period embroidery, lace making, dancing, and more. The Baronesses will revamp their now classic roles as baronial bee-juice testers in a mead competition, while all good gentles are invited to recite selections of the Bard's work in their best Shakespearean English for honour, fame, and glory. The UGA MARS group will entertain us by performing Shakespearean vignettes throughout the day. All this and more, as we celebrate “A Midsummer Knights' Dreamstone.”

April 15-17, 2011

Camp Daniel Morgan at Hard Labor Creek State Park,
Knox Chapel Road, Rutledge, GA 30663

Baron's (Sur)prize List: Bridesmaid Tourney — The Quest for Madoc's Keep: A multi-stage list, consisting of round robin, two-man teams, and single elimination fighting scenarios. First, each fighter must best his or her opponents in a choice of weapon style; most points wins, round robin challenge; top four fighters advance. Second, the four advancing fighters divide into two-man teams and face off against one another while carrying a “spar” (4-in. x 8-ft. round fence post), which both fighters must maintain contact with. If the spar is dropped, they must defend while regaining their hold on the spar; best two out of three wins. Third, there can be only one! The winning team members must turn on one another in a fight to the death to secure the coveted treasure for the Lady of their choosing; single elimination fight.
