Ontario Welsh Festival

We invite you to join us in at the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel in Niagara Falls from April 29 to May 1, 2011. Join us in friendship, in song and in celebration. Let’s keep the tradition of our Ontario Welsh Festival alive and vibrant. To accomplish this, we need your support and presence next year and in the years ahead.

Our celebratory weekend is being extended to four days. A special occasion calls for special events and to mark our 50th birthday in Niagara Falls we offer a Winery Tour from the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel at 11 AM on Thursday - $85 pp to include transportation, a guided tour of two wineries (+ tasting), a specially prepared three course lunch at the splendid Inn on the Twenty, Jordan, with time to sight see and shop, and a visit to the Upper Canada Cheese Factory.

We return to our hotel in time for the evening’s activities: a film night followed by a sing-a-long .

To reserve your seat on the Wine Tour, contact Donna Morris at DONNA.MORRIS@mpac.ca

The extra night (Thursday) is at the same special rate for attendees of the Welsh Festival.

Côr Gwadd / Guest Choir
Cor CF1

Under the leadership of it’s energetic conductor, Eilir Owen Griffith, CF1 has developed into one of the most successful choirs in Wales. Founded in 2002 the choir has won numerous first prizes in the Urdd National Eisteddfod and the National Eisteddfod of Wales - the most recent being first prize at the 2010 Eisteddfod in Ebbw Vale. They were also the winners of the Youth Choir category in the Côr Cymru (Choir of Wales) competition and were named “Choir of the Festival” in the 2005 National Eisteddfod. No mean achievement for a choir that is only 8 years old!

CF1 has been involved in many exciting projects including a massed performance of Carmina Burana at St. David’s Hall in conjunction with Dance Company of Wales (2009), the world premier of Karl Jenkins’ O’Beata Trinitas (2009) and the opening of the Wales Millenium Centre (2004).

The choir has travelled to the U.S, Ireland and Poland and is looking forward to their first visit to Canada as guest choir at the 50th Anniversary of the Ontario Welsh Festival.

They work hard and play hard. They socialize regularly through the medium of Welsh. Their title? It is the postal code of the location where they practise!

Past attendees: do you have any memorobilia of past Cymanfaoedd? Any photographs? Any amusing stories? Please contact Betty Cullingworth at 416-486-0432 or at cullingwho@rogers.com.

During the weekend, the Board of the Ontario Welsh Festival will honour a person who has contributed greatly to the Welsh community and in particular the Festival. If you would like to nominate someone for that award, please contact Betty

Niagara Falls is a wonderful family resort. What a geat place for the grandchildren. Let’s plan now to make the 50th anniversary a truly Golden affair.
