[ATE] Bacchanal

It's time to don your chiton or toga again this spring with the College of Brymstonne! Springtime calls us with faint melodies of laughter and play. Soon the cozy warmth of the sun will have us basking in its beauty! And with April at its end, we celebrate May Day in the Roman tradition of the festival of Floralia!

The College invites the populace to come and celebrate our annual Bacchanal in this spirit. Festivities will include a Bardic Circle, Olympic games, pantomime and dancing around the Maypole! We'll also be hosting a brewing competition, so bring your finest meads and cordials to be tasted by all! And, last but certainly not least, a feast will be served which is fit for the Gods!

Join us on April 30, 2011 at Hollis Park in Tempe, located south of Broadway Road on Dorsey Ave. The site will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and feast will begin at 3 p.m. The meal will be served buffet-style, but there will be a limited number of feast slots available, so picnic lunches are welcome as well. The site is damp this year, but glass containers are not permitted.

Bring blankets if you wish to lounge on the ground, or chairs if you prefer upright seating. Pavilions are advised for shade. Camping and fires are not allowed. Cars and trucks are only allowed on paved areas and in the parking lot.

Site fee is $3 for adult SCA members, $8 for adult non-members. The event is free for those 18 and under. Feast will be $7 for adults and $4 for kids, and must be prepaid to Lady Kateryn Treningham, the Brymstonne Exchequer. Please make out any checks to "SCA - College of Brymstonne" and include a list name for those being paid for, and designate Youth or Adult by name.

Directions: Make your best way to US-60. Exit at McClintock Drive and go north to Southern (Southern is the first major street). Turn west (left) onto Southern. Turn south (left) onto S. Dorsey Lane (if you get to Rural, you’ve gone too far). Dorsey Lane ends at the park.
