“The Hafla is my favorite event because they get the sights and smells right,” said SCA member Janet Johnston about a recent event in the Shire of Quintavia (East Kingdom). Rebecca Alty of The Item spent the day at the Hafla and reported her experience.
Alty interviewed several participants at the event, but seemed most taken with the Middle Eastern dancers. "The highlights of the day were definitely the performances of the belly dancers. They varied in style from very ethnic and folkloric to more modern combinations of traditional moves in an artistic style. Likewise, the costumes were ornate and different."
