Roman Tileworks Discovered in Surrey

Surrey Online: Archaeologists working on a dig near the town of Reigate in Surrey, England, have uncovered a 2nd or 3rd century Roman tileworks. Researchers worked against the clock to excavate the site of a Roman tileworks in Doods Way near Reigate, England, before demolition teams moved in to tear down a house on the site. Workers discovered an elaborate furnace systems with flues made from hollow bricks used to make fine tiles for buildings in Roman London.
