9th Century Corgi May Have Been Royal Favorite

The bones of a dog, which might have been a Corgi, have researchers
speculating about royal pets.
Queen Elizabeth II's passion for Corgis may have some grounding in history,
thanks to recent discoveries in southern Wales. The bones of a small dog,
possibly a Corgi, and dating from around the 9th century, were discovered
during the excavation of a royal dwelling in the Brecon Beacons area of
southern Wales. If the dog was indeed a Corgi, archaeologists may have found
the first proof of royal pets.
