Legend of William Tell Still Inspires Swiss and Tourists

Christian Science Monitor: The shadow of William Tell still looms large in Switzerland, both in the
imaginations of its people and the tourists who visit the country.
This summer the German National Theatre Weimar will celebrate the 200th
anniversity of Schiller's play based on the legend with performances in
Switzerland, but that is really only a small part of William Tell's presence
in the country. His trick with the apple was the spark that led to Swiss
independence and a sense of freedom that can still be felt today.
