[MID] Herald's Pointe and Scribal Collegium

The Herald's Pointe is to provide an opportunity to meet with heralds without the distractions of other events. No need to rush between tournament bouts, etc. - just the heralds and you.

Heart of the Shepherd Lutheran Church
228 N. Burkhart Road
Howell, MI 48843-7638
Exit 133 from I-96
Site is bone dry no exceptions.

This is a gathering of heralds to provide SCA members with the expertise of the College of  Heralds to choose a period name and device that do not conflict with others in the SCA or the historical /current Royal families/ persons/ groups/ organizations (i.e. the British Royal Family, Knights Of the Empire, Margaret Thatcher). Instruction is given for the submission process - documentation needed, forms, timeframe, costs. Get your name and device evaluated and paperwork prepared for submission to the SCA College of Heralds.

In addition, this year classes will be held for heralds. If you are a new herald, want to become a herald or interested in heraldry, here is an opportunity to learn about heraldry in the Middle Kingdom. Classes for court and voice heralds planned as well. A herald's roundtable is also planned.

The Scribal Collegium is a chance to learn how to illuminate or put those pretty pictures/designs on paper. There will be assistance in learning the basics of Calligraphy. The Scribal Collegium will be instruction for those who wish/need it, and a opportunity for the experienced to produce illuminated scrolls for gifting to Kingdom for awards.

New this year:
We are adding an A&S competition. The theme - Display your Heraldry! Bring in displays of heraldry you have created i.e. banners, tabbards, scabbards, tankards, dishes, tunics, anything that you have decorated with arms.

At the request of our Minister of Youth, we hope to have classes for youth. As instructors come forward, we will be able to publish our offerings. We hope to have them in heraldry, illumination and calligraphy.
Why heraldry?
Why Illumination?
Or better yet - Why Not?
