Manchester Online: Archaeologists from the University of Manchester have discovered both Viking
and Roman artifacts at a site near the village of Warburton, England.
A team of researchers and archaeologists from the Warburton Heritage Fund and
Manchester University believe that Viking longships sailed up the Mersey River
and settled in the area around the village of Warburton in Cheshire. One of the
recent finds was a 10th century Viking buckle with a runic design. The dig also
uncovered a first century Roman military pendant.
