Their Excellencies Girard and Guenievre and the Barony of Windmasters' Hill invite you to join us the weekend of February 18-20, 2011 for Ymir XXXVI at the Betsy Jeff Penn 4H Center in Reidsville, NC. 

The winter winds blow in the second month of the year, and to help ward off the chill this site offers heated cabins and classroom space and hot showers. We hope you plan on being a part of our Baronys Annual Celebration of the Great Frost Giant!

The theme for Ymir XXXVI is still a Viking one; but there is also a new underlying new theme, that being "New Blood".  All over this Kingdom we have people new to the SCA expressing and interest, wanting to get involved.  Our goal this year is to get new people to attend and to get involved in the planning and execution of this event.  But; not only do we want to involve new people, we also get long time members to try new things as well, explore the SCA and all it has to offer.   To this end I encourage everyone to attend, to invite new members and to help them be involved, not just to be a spectator.

Site Opens: 5:00 PM Friday, February, 18, 2011.  (Event Staff may enter at noon.)
Site Closes: 11:00 AM Sunday, February, 20, 2011

Site Restrictions:  Pets permitted only on a leash. Fires allowed in only designated areas (pre-existing fire pits). Swim in the lake at your own risk; no lifeguard is on duty. Alcohol is permitted for those over the age of 21. No original containers. Take your empties and trash home with you.  Parking directly by the cabins is prohibited.  You may bring stoves and the like for cooking, however, no food may be cooked or prepared in the cabins.  It is advisable if you have a cart to bring it with you for loading and unloading, as parking directly by the cabins is prohibited.

Cell Phone Reception:  Cell phone service in this area is spotty and may be unavailable under certain service providers.  (To help maintain the ambiance at the event for everyone, we ask that everyone keep their cell phone on vibrate or turn it off while on site for the duration of the event.)

Important note about Children/Minors at Ymir:  Please dont make us turn away your minor event attendee at the gate!  Unless you are the childs parent or legal guardian, we must have a properly completed and notarized Minor Medical Authorization Form is you are bringing a minor child.  (We must have this form even if you are a blood relative such as a grandparent).   Link to Minor Medical Authorization Form.

Cabins:  There are 8 heated cabins each with 26 beds with electricity and shower facilities available for those choosing to sleep onsite.  If you would like to be in a cabin or camp with a group of people, PLEASE have all of your group members contact Baron Douglas 1Escrivyen at darkwater9[AT]yahoo.com with your ACCEPS confirmation number.  Additionally, although the cabins are heated, in case you prefer to be warmer, you may want to bring a space heater or electric blanket.

  • Make your reservations via ACCEPS 1 December 2010 - January 31, 2011.
  • All feast, cabin, and tenting reservations are taken via ACCEPS.
  • Daytrip, non-feast, and tenting non-feast only reservations may be sent via ACCEPS or mailed to Baron Douglas lEscrivyen (Douglas Parker) at 3631 Mill Run, Raleigh, NC 27612.
  • Please save a copy of your ACCEPS receipt and bring it with you when you check-in.
  • If you want to stay with a group in a cabin please have all group members forward their ACCEPS confirmation (including the group name) to Baron Douglas l'Escrivyen at darkwater9[AT]yahoo[DOT]com .
  • If you are tenting please send the reservationist your tent size space requirements, and if you are camping with a group.
  • Tent space is somewhat limited.

(However, if your child of any age requires their own separate bed in a cabin, you must pay for the bed through ACCEPS.  Your children age 4 and under are welcome to share a bed with a parent or with any other paid children.  There are no extra beds that are not available through ACCEPS.)

Refunds will be provided as dictated by the Financial Policy of the Barony of Windmaster's Hill.
5.3 Event Refunds shall be provided as follows:
5.3.1 No refunds shall be provided if the event does not make a profit.
5.3.2 The Exchequer must receive refund requests in writing no later then seven days after the event.
5.3.3 Exceptions may be made by authorization of the autocrat in concert with the seneschal and exchequer.
5.3.4 Donation receipts may be given in lieu of a cash refund.
5.3.5 This policy shall be posted at the check in table at the event.
