Giles de Roet reports that Their Majesties of the Kingdom of Lochac have chosen to elevate Don Tariq ibn Jelal to the Order of the Laurel for his years of research and application of period fencing.
In a message to the populace of Lochac, Giles de Roet writes:
Yet Tariq has not rested contentedly with his accolade, but gone far beyond the prowess expected of a Don. Tariq has, uniquely, sought to base his skills wholly within period practice, using the specific schools of swordplay described in renaissance manuals of defence by Giganti, Manciolino and others. This has enabled him to perform his art not only with deadly effectiveness, but with unequalled artistry.
