Known for weddings and a monumental waterfall, Niagara, New York also boasts one of the largest collections of Catholic relics in the United States.
The collection of Rev. Michael Burzynski, leader of St. Mary of the Cataract, has recently been put on permanent display at the church. The collection includes saints ranging from ancient to modern, including St. Francis of Assisi, St. Helena, and of course, a piece of the True Cross.
Rev. Burzynski received his first relic as a gift in graduate school and says his impulse as a collector more than religious fervor have driven him in his quest. "You have one," he said, "you try to find the set."
