Longtime SCA member pens romance novel set in SCA

Romance author Jamaica Layne (the pen name of journalist and playwright Jill Elaine Hughes, who is known in the SCA as "Lady Marissa de Courette") has written a contemporary romance novel set in the Society for Creative Anachronism.

The novel, titled Tender Is The Knight, will be released as an ebook on October 29, 2010 by Decadent Publishing and also available in all major ebook formats/book sales websites, including Amazon Kindle, BN.com, AllRomanceEbooks,com, and Fictionwise.com), with a trade paperback edition to follow within 3-6 months.

Tender Is The Knight was inspired in part by Ms. Layne's (Hughes') experiences growing up in the Society for Creative Anachronism in the 1980s. After going inactive in SCA around 1990, Ms. Layne recently became active in the SCA once again and introduced her own son and husband to the organization.  Tender Is The Knight is a fictional portrayal of the romance, historical reinactment, and swashbuckling action of SCA events, and portrays a young single woman who attends a local SCA event at a friend's behest, only to catch the eye of the most eligible bachelor-knight in the kingdom, who quickly asks her to be his Consort at the next Crown Tournament----which he wins.  Romance and intrigue follow, but to find out more, you'll have to read the book!
