Advanced technologies planned to digitize the Dead Sea Scrolls

Thanks to several major gifts, the Israel Antiquities Authority plans to digitize the entire Dead Sea Scrolls collection and "make the images freely available and accessible to anyone anywhere in the world on the internet."

The collection of 900 manuscripts will be photographed for the first time since the 1950s, and will be available in hi-resolution and multi spectra. The IAA will partner with Google-Israel to upload images to the Internet, including meta-data such as transcriptions, translations and bibliography.
