Viking Settlement Discovery Delays Cork Construction

UTV: Plans for student housing and a carpark in the center of Cork, Ireland are on hold after the discovery of a Viking ship. The recent discovery of ten houses and the prow of a Viking ship dating to around 1050 C.E. have put plans to develop an area of central Cork on hold. The settlement is the earliest known Viking settlement in the Cork area and one of the earliest in Ireland. So far excavations have unearthed wall posts, metal artifacts and the prow of a Viking ship as well as the foundations of the houses. M
