Admiral Epic Fail: Cook, soldier... vampire?

Culinary student Anthony Emerson, AKA Admiral Epic Fail, is a child of the SCA and Ren Faires, but his particular taste for fantasy runs more to larping and Dagorhir. In an article for the Courier-News (Elgin, IL), reporter Mike Danahey spoke to Emerson about his participation in both organizations.

"My father (Edward) was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism in the early 1970s. He and my mother (Sarah) both began going to King Richard's Faire" — now Bristol Renaissance Faire — "in the early 1980s. My eldest sister is 27, and my family has been avid campers for easily 30 years. Camping, as well as the Renaissance Faire, led to meeting individuals who go to and camp at historical re-enactments," Emerson said.

Emerson says he has made many friends in both his hobbies, and uses his cooking skills often. "At events, we are camping for a week, so food must be prepared for every meal. I have helped make everything from stews and chilis to chicken alfredo and steaks for dinner. Or from pancakes to biscuits and gravy for breakfast."
