Venice, California photographer E.F. Kitchen has had her photos displayed at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Now she captures the "glint of light off hand-made armor" in her book Suburban Knights: A Return to the Middle Ages. Scott Timberg of the Los Angeles Times has a review.
Kitchen became acquainted with medieval reenactors in the Society for Creative Anachronism and was fascinated with both the craftsmanship of handmade armor and the committment members had to their hobby. "I had no idea people did this," she said.
Suburban Knights: A Return to the Middle Ages, is a series of portraits of SCA members produced as Platinum/Palladium prints, printed on Arches Platine paper. Kitchen recently attended the Pennsic War where she autographed her books.
