Viscountess Elashava bas Riva has posted photos from Thatsa Mare, which took place recently in the Kingdom of Northshield.
I will admit that the road from here to Mare Amethystium is a very long one (whichever direction one goes) but it so very worth it at the end of the road. I have always felt very welcome and at home when I have made the journey. I highly recommend this event if you ever have the chance to go. Their version of Highland Games is very challenging and even fun for the spectators--caber toss, hammer hold, and drunken pig raid in three divisions (men, women, and youth)--tested the mettle of 18 fine Gentles. The weather was lovely this year and, though the natives found it warm, those of us from the southern part of the Kingdom (HRM Sigrid, THL Arnbjorn, Giles and I) enjoyed the mild weather. It is all relative, is it not? The feast was fantastic that included freshly roasted pig. No way any of us were going away hungry.
My view of Saturday can be found online. Hopefully others will add an album of the event from different points of view.
Usual post-script: As always, for my pictures, feel free to leave comments and help me label the pictures; use any picture for SCA purposes; ask me to delete something if you don't like it via private message. Feel free to share with your friends and family. And even steal some to post on Facebook or in your blogs or whatever (credit is kind of nice but not necessary).
