University of California recipient of large donation of medieval books

An anonymous donor has given to the University of California, Riverside, a book and manuscript collection oriented toward medieval history and valued at almost US$100K.

The collection contains over twenty facsimiles of medieval books and more than 150 modern books about the history of books and book art. The facsimiles are high-quality reproductions of calligraphed and illuminated manuscripts and books from the Middle Ages as well as precise copies of early printed books, including a facsimile of the Gutenberg Bible.
